Sauna Kit: A Modular Backyard Sauna, Ready to Install
Unlike sauna kits DIY buyers piece together themselves, a HomeWiP sauna kit is a factory-built, modular structure — we handle the sale, the permit process, and the installation for your San Francisco Bay Area, California backyard.

Sauna Kits
What Is a Sauna Kit — and How Is It Different from a Sauna Tent or Pod?
A sauna kit is a factory-built, modular structure. When you buy through HomeWiP, we handle the sale, the permit process, and the installation — it isn't a self-assembly box, and it isn't a from-scratch build you piece together on your own.
That also sets it apart from a fold-up infrared pod or a fabric sauna tent. An outdoor sauna kit is permanent — it stays on the property, holds true sauna heat, and is built to the same standard as any other backyard accessory structure.
Outdoor Living
Why an Outdoor Sauna?
HomeWiP's sauna line is outdoor-only. Indoor sauna conversions exist elsewhere, but a standalone backyard unit has real advantages.
No Moisture in Your Home
A standalone outdoor sauna keeps steam and humidity out of your house entirely — no moisture migration into living space.
Wood-Fired Heat, If You Want It
Being outdoors opens up the wood-fired heater option (pending city permits), which isn't practical for most indoor installs.
A True Retreat
Stepping outside to a separate structure makes the sauna feel like an actual retreat, not just another room.

Full Service
What's Included When You Buy a Sauna Kit From HomeWiP?
This is the core of what makes HomeWiP different. We manage the full cycle: the sale, the permitting, and the installation — sourced from Irontown Modular, the same manufacturing partner behind HomeWiP's other accessory modular structures.
Compare that to a fully custom build: sourcing lumber, sizing a heater, framing, insulating, benching, and filing sauna plans and permits entirely on your own. A sauna is a backyard accessory structure HomeWiP already knows how to permit and install. You just Bara Badu Bastu.
Sizes
Which Sauna Kit Size Is Right for You?
All four models come from the same Sweaty Yeti line — pick the size that matches your household and how you plan to use it.

Sauna
The most compact footprint in the line at 48 sq ft (8′ × 9′) — a 6-person sauna well suited to a couple or small family.

Fit Plus
A 116 sq ft (8′ × 17′) fitness studio add-on for households that want a workout space alongside their sauna.

Sauna Fit
A 116 sq ft (8′ × 17′) sauna room paired with a dedicated workout room — sauna plus fitness in one structure.

Sauna Plus
The largest capacity in the line at 116 sq ft (8′ × 17′) — a 12-person sauna built for entertaining.
Heater Options
What Heater Options Are Available?
Every sauna kit ships with a heater choice — pick the one that matches how you plan to use it.
Wood-Fired
The traditional, off-grid option — authentic ritual and radiant heat, independent of electrical capacity. A sauna wood stove is the classic backyard-sauna experience; the trade-off is chimney planning and wood storage.
Electric
Push-button convenience with fast, consistent heat and the lowest day-to-day effort. A sauna electric heater needs its own dedicated electrical circuit, which is the main trade-off.
Infrared
Gentler heat at lower ambient temperatures — often the most comfortable choice for longer or more frequent sessions. It's a different, lower-humidity experience than a traditional dry or wood-fired sauna.
Wood-fired for ritual and off-grid independence. Electric for convenience and consistency. Infrared for gentler everyday heat.

Permits
Do You Need a Permit for a Backyard Sauna?
In most jurisdictions, a sauna this size is a permitted accessory structure — the same category as any accessory structure (think garage or a bigger shed).
HomeWiP handles that process directly as part of the full-service purchase, rather than leaving you to navigate it alone. See our backyard accessory structures hub for more on how permitting works.
